Position Summary
The Senior Policy Service Specialist (SPSS) is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the coordination and completion of critical tasks and activities that support in-house Underwriting operations. This team member reports to an Operations Director/Manager and has a dotted line reporting relationship to Field and In-House Underwriters. The incumbent demonstrates a mastery in all aspects of the Policy Service Specialist (PSS) role and provides a heightened level of team and organizational support. The SPSS is critical to FCBI’s ability to make timely decisions about business opportunities and cultivate long-term business relationships with client agents and policyholders. Business success relies on the ability of the SPSS to support a team approach to managing the needs of internal/external stakeholders based on established performance criteria.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate accounts to determine alignment with underwriting need
- Interact with agent clients to provide superior service via phone and email
- Review submissions for completeness and accuracy
- Initiate and manage requests for additional information as needed
- Data entry for new business submissions, quotes and binds
- Develop Submission Package for review by Underwriter
- Prepare new business quotes and manage quote follow-up activity
- Bind coverage in preparation for policy issuance
- Policy/endorsement issuance and post -issuance accuracy review
- Responsible for documentation of Underwriting files
- Underwriting Renewal Authority (</= $10K in Annual Premium)
- Prepare renewal policies for Underwriting evaluation
- Prepare policy documentation for Underwriting Renewal Review Team (URRT)
- Prepare and issue Underwriting cancellation/reinstatement requests
- Obtain documentation required to facilitate billing process
- Fully assist Underwriters in all aspects of their primary responsibilities
- May receive Underwriting authority to review/approve renewal business
- May prepare reports as requested by Underwriting or Leadership Team
- May define PSS process and develop associated training materials
- May facilitate PSS new employee and developmental training sessions
- Achieve established PSS productivity and quality requirements
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR) designation preferred but not required
- Three to five years prior experience as a Policy Service Representative, Underwriting Assistant or Underwriting Technician
- In-depth knowledge of Workers’ Compensation Insurance and related policy processing functions
